S6E26: Run for Women Moncton raises funds for trauma-informed daycare

April 08, 2024

The push continues to raise enough money to build a trauma-informed early childhood learning centre at the Courage Centre (also known to many as the Beauséjour Family Crisis Resource Centre) in Shediac.

One simple way to help - sign up to take part in the 2024 Shoppers Drug Mart Run for Women!

Kristal LeBlanc is the executive director of the centre, which includes various support services for those transitioning from violent situations - emergency housing, forensic medical exam space, drop-in mental health support, a children’s playroom that serves as a neutral space for visits or custody exchanges, and several justice facility dogs (two of whom joined us in studio for this recording). She shares about the growing need for the centre's services and the importance of creating a space specifically designed for children who are navigating life after trauma.

The annual Shoppers Drug Mart Run for Women is a large part of the centre's funding mechanism, and everyone can help - either by participating in the walk/run or donating through someone who is. (Hint, hint -- Jenna is Captain for the Leveraging Local Team. You can donate online or sign up to join us!)

The Shoppers Drug Mart Run for Women Moncton takes place on May 5 at Centennial Park. You can find more about the local event on their Facebook page: www.facebook.com/runforwomenmoncton

The Jenna & Tosh Show is a co-production of Pickle Planet Moncton and The Podcast Hub, and is recorded & aired by Rogers TV New Brunswick. Follow us for a new episodes each Monday!
