Walk long enough you will eventually live to see yourself.  Picard discovers that in the near future, something terrible will happen and proceeds to, well, talk about it for about 20 minutes of run time before picking up the action again.  
Paired with Revenge of the Sith which features Anakin Skywalker seeing a similar vision of a grim future, (and probably a better act 2) we continue to compare and contrast Star Trek to Star Wars!
