Animal Wise Radio's Mike and Beth anticipate a great conversation today on Animal Wise Radio!

Returning guest, Susan Shaw, is founder and President of the Marine Environmental Research Institute (MeriResearch.org). Her research and fearless voice cuts through corporate platitudes with respect to the health of our ocean waters and why it matters to people. Her work identifying the effects of chemical toxins in marine life was well established when she jumped into the Gulf of Mexico after BP's Deepwater Horizon oil platform tragically exploded, flooding the water with oil and the subsequent application of toxic dispersant, Corexit.

Dr. Shaw recently presented a TEDx talk about the ongoing after effects of this tragedy. We'll hear about her experience up-close to this human and environmental tragedy. Is there substance behind feel-good BP television advertisements showing sparkling Gulf waters?

And Michael Mountain, of EarthInTransition.org, interviews author and environmental activist Derrick Jensen who considers the insanity of our cultural trajectory.
