Parental Geekery

Episode 47 - A Bit of a Catch Up

November 02, 2014

Welcome back to a long overdue episode of Parental Geekery. We’ve got a lot of catching up to do. First of all, someone had a birthday last month, and we talk about that.

We were lucky enough to get tickets to the recording of the CBeebies Christmas Panto this year – we can’t tell you anything about the actual show, but we talk a bit about the day. John bemoans confusing Cat and Gem, and we express our love for Dr Ranj. There’s a quick mention of Little Fun Fest in there too.

David’s latest obsession is Team Umizoomi, which we’re watching on Netflix (UK). We give a couple of talking book recommendations for kids as well – Catherine is enjoying the Horrid Henry books whilst David wanted How To Train Your Dragon (Ruth’s happy about this one as it is narrated by David Tennant :)

We talk about how David’s getting on with his reading and writing.

We had a trip to see Matilda in the West End. Both kids took part in a musical theatre workshop during Half Term, and we discovered that the trick to getting Catherine to attend was to tell her she would be putting on a show at the end! We also talk about the kids swimming lessons.

John is taking part in Movember again this year. He’s set himself a really aggressive target, so he would be very grateful of any donations towards his mo. You can find out more on his Mo-Space Page.

John also talks about his involvement with The Arcanum

We talk about Apple’s recently announced new iPads and iPhones, and close off by geeking out about Google’s new Gmail client, Inbox.
