Focused Service = Fewer Competitors
Imagine a world where all service providers had enough clients...
This is possible if each of us really attended to our ideal service focus... the way you serve the world that most utilizes your unique genius, that most allows you to give your greatest gift to uplift others.
The more focused your service is...
...the fewer your competitors
...the more mastery you gain by serving a specific type of person, getting to know them well, and what processes and tools most helps them specifically
...the more win-win referral partnerships you could have, because you'll be known for working in a particular niche and others who work in a related niche can refer the perfect clients to you.
Let's say you best serve people age 45-55. That means someone who provides the same service you do, except for people age 20-35 (previously a competitor) will do best by referring someone age 50 to you. And you make the world better by referring a prospective client age 30 to them. You each serve the type of person you're best at serving!
Another example: I serve clients who are interested in a spiritual view of business and marketing. I have friends who are excellent business coaches but are more secular in their approach. We make great referral partners because of this worldview difference.
Here is how you can focus your service:
Look at your current and past clients.
Write down the names of those for whom you had the most impact.
Then answer these questions...
1. Were most of these ideal clients female or male?
2. What age range were they?
3. What professions were they? Is there one industry that was more represented?
4. What common life, work, or relationship transition were they going through?
5. What common passion or hobby do they share?
6. Do they have a common favorite author or blogger?
7. What worldview do they share? (You can find out by following them on social media and seeing what they literally share)
8. What stage of the transformational journey did you most help them with?
The more of these questions you can answer, the more focused your service is.
May we all clarify our ideal clients and service focus, so we can become truly excellent at what we do, and more easily refer clients to each other!
