Tyler Balderson – Tree Hugger and Arboriculturist, Bartlett Tree Experts

March 14, 2019

Tyler Balderson, Tree Hugger and Arboriculturist at Bartlett Tree Experts, is your tree expert. He comes by his profession naturally, and has the necessary credentials of a forestry degree from Virginia Tech and years of experience in every aspect of tree care. He was born and raised around trees at his father’s nursery in Montgomery County, MD. Balderson has cared for elm trees at historic Mount Vernon as well as the Liberty Tree – Wye Oak – in Annapolis. He believes in safety first when assessing trees, and talks about trees that are important to the DC Metro environment, and those that are adverse. Balderson weighs in on a specific service provided by some tree guys for the gumball tree. He also suggests that it is better to plan for existing and new trees before building on a property than after. Once the damage is done to trees due to building it cannot be undone. He insists that we need to know our own trees and educate ourselves on the right trees to plant. He talks about why cabling and lightning protection may be necessary for older trees. And, he wants neighbors to get along for the sake of the trees and for safety’s sake. Balderson also suggests that people put down their tech devices and get out and hug a tree. You’ll feel a bit better after you do. Enjoy your tree hugging experience and this interview!
