God moved incredibly through the prayers of Samaritan’s Purse donors, staff, volunteers, and leadership through the past year. In today’s episode, Kristy Graham takes you around the world to hear about miracles that happened in 2021.

Kristy first introduces guest Dave Philips, a deputy director for international projects, to give an overview of how Samaritan’s Purse met physical and spiritual needs in each region.

“We had an openness to say ‘Lord, where do you want us to go? What do you want us to do? How can we use these resources to serve you?’ And we didn’t plan it, but I think we’ve all been surprised to see what God has done in 2021,” Dave told Kristy.

Beginning in the United States, Dave highlights that Samaritan’s Purse deployed an Emergency Field Hospital in early January to Western North Carolina. An influx of COVID-19 patients had overwhelmed the local medical system, and the ministry was asked to bring critical surge capacity.

Dave and Kristy then focused on the Latin America and Caribbean region. Haiti witnessed one of its most difficult years in history as they navigated a 7.2 magnitude earthquake following the assassination of their president. Samaritan’s Purse mobilized a Disaster Assistance Response Team to provide medical care, shelter materials, and clean water.

In the same region, the ministry continues to respond to the Venezuelan migrant crisis as families walk miles across the border to Colombia. Fleeing with only what they can carry, Venezuelan migrants are met by Samaritan’s Purse teams to meet their tangible needs.

Next, Dave shares how Samaritan’s Purse has been ministering to various regions in Africa throughout 2021. Starting in Ethiopia during the violent unrest in Tigray, the ministry sent four flights of our DC-8 cargo plane to provide emergency food, nutrition, blankets, and hygiene items.

“[These stories] don’t make the headlines or the cover of the Wall Street Journal, but individual people’s lives are being changed,” Dave says. “We really have to go in faith and say, ‘Okay, God, we trust you.’”

Dave covers miracle stories happening in Kenya, South Sudan, Niger and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Samaritan’s Purse teams have been faithful to meet the specific needs of families across Africa.

Kristy guides the conversation to the ways Samaritan’s Purse is making an impact in the Middle East, specifically regarding the most recent crisis in Afghanistan. The ministry is creating opportunities for local churches in America to help welcome Afghan families as they resettle and acclimate to a new way of life. Although the Middle East is constantly facing conflict and instability, Samaritan’s Purse is working to bring hope and healing.

The episode wraps with a look into how God moved in Asia—despite lockdowns, humanitarian crises, and civil unrest. The Samaritan’s Purse teams haven’t wavered as they continue to show love and compassion to hurting communities in places like Cambodia, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
