I stink at waiting, especially when waiting for a decision to be made. Living in that in-between space, neither here nor there, can seem like a waste of time. We want to get onto the next thing.

But sometimes, we are asked to wait, to have some patience.

Liminal space is like a doorway; you are in between two places. This liminal space can be a great time and place to work with God on going deeper with him. Use the time of waiting to prepare if you know what is coming next. Make plans, get ready for the move or trip or new job or new baby. Whatever it is, try not to think the time is being wasted while waiting for the BIG event to happen.

Romans 8 is a great chapter to read while you are waiting in that liminal space. I like verses 18-30 in particular. Here are a few I think especially apply:

I consider that the sufferings of this present time are as nothing compared with the glory to be revealed for us…In the same way, the Spirit too comes to the aid of our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit itself intercedes with inexpressible groanings….We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.
