You need a dark, quiet room. A chair, bed, or recliner (whatever will make you most comfortable for breathing and remaining idle WITHOUT falling asleep).

Next, remain still. Trick your body. It may feel weird, and it make feel like you are not in control, paralyzed, but that’s normal. You are not your body; do not let it rule you. http://astralsociety.us/index.php?topic=870.0

Third step is to free your mind (and the rest will follow). In my opinion, this is the hardest step. This requires your mind to not think of anything, which it will always try to do. The breathing can work; if you focus all your energy and thoughts on to specifically moving your muscles, feeling the air come and go into your body long enough, you will begin to meditate.

Or the Counting Method (like counting sheep). In your head, visualize the number ‘100’ then  ‘99’ then so on, counting down to 0 in your head. Then start again from ‘30’ and count down. Keep going back to ’30’ till you zone out and meditate.
