The Nevada County Insider

82°F I’m back from my summer break! Cooler weather is here, but warmer days will return just in time for the Fair.

August 07, 2016

Hey Hey Giovanni here! Your Weatherguy. Here are this week’s Podcast shownotes.
Weather rewind:
– Warm week finally led to a long awaited cool down.
– The week ended dry again with very little sierra t’storm activity and cooler as a trough parked itself off the Washington coast.
– Fire season has been very active locally, but thanks to CalFire they have been contained before they got anywhere

Weekly Forecast:
-The coming week looks to start cooler, but a slight warm up is expected by Wednesday just in time for the Nevada County Fair.
-Expect daytime highs to reach the mid 80s in Grass Valley/Nevada City while Penn Valley gets closer to the low 90s  by Wednesday.
-Long range forecast models keep us dry for the next 7-10 days. Hotter weather returns next weekend. This may lead to another round of mid 90s for Nevada City so enjoy the cooler temps right now
A trough keeps us cooler early in the week.

June – August Precipitation and Temperature Outlook: Dry and hot!

A structure fire in the middle of town scared us a bit this past week. No one was hurt and the fire was quickly contained.

Current reservoir levels still look great.

The onshore flow will be a lot stronger in the coming days, but a warming trend returns by next Wednesday.

The jet stream to our north will not only keep us dry.

Forecast models look dry for the Nevada County Fair, but warmer by next weekend.

The precipitation outlook map for the coming week looks dry for us as High pressure keeps the rain out of our area.
