68°F The last week of spring looks to continue cool. What did you think of those surprise showers today?

June 12, 2016

Hey Hey Giovanni here! Your Weatherguy. Here are this week’s Podcast shownotes.
Weather rewind:
– The week started out close to 90°F.
– We gradually cooled down to the low 70s late in the week as a storm headed into the Pacific NW.
– High pressure moved inland generating a chance of t’storms across the Sierra and western Nevada.
– The week ended with a few clouds and surprise showers as a Low to our south interacted with a ridge to our east.
– We picked up a quick 0.02″ of rain which I know is not a lot, making it the first measurable rain of the month.

Weekly Forecast:
-T’storms will diminish across the Sierra on Monday as the week will begin cooler and remain pleasant with daytime highs in the Low 70s.
-A couple of weather disturbances will pass to our north keeping us cooler through much of the week.
-Long range forecast models keep us dry for the next 7-10 days with a gradual warming trend this coming weekend as High pressure dominates our weather.

June – August Precipitation and Temperature Outlook: A Hot and dry summer is on the way!

Still just a bit of snow left at resort level. Head up to the high country to get some turns.

Current reservoir levels still look great as the snow melts in the high country.

Low pressure inland generates a few rogue showers and t’storms over western Nevada and the Sierra this evening.

The jet stream will bring us a dry air flow this coming week with daytime highs in the low 70s.

Forecast models look dry for us as t’storm activity continues to our east and western Nevada early in the week.

The precipitation outlook map for the coming week looks dry for us as High pressure keeps the rain out of our area.
