This is CarlaÂ’s Quick Tip for the Day. LetÂ’s talk about food labels and the packaging on foods.
Sometimes, the food label tells you low-fat and you think, “Oh good! I’m trying to lose weight, I’m going to buy low fat thing.” And I used to do this myself until I wised up and figured out that because it says low fat doesn’t really mean it’s good for you.
What they put in the food instead of fat is they put in either a sugar or sugar substitute.
Sugar!
Too much sugar in our American diets is making us sick.
So I used to buy those low fat things.
And then I started turning the package over and reading the label and realizing, well first of all, you donÂ’t say that many calories in something thatÂ’s supposedly low fat because they make up for it by adding sugar in so it taste better.
But worst of all, theyÂ’re adding in sometimes sugar chemicals, artificial sweeteners, that are not good for you. We know those are dangerous. Some of them would cause cancer.
So just eat natural. Just skip the low fat. ItÂ’s better to eat something full of fat like a pack of grass fed butter.
But from a cow thatÂ’s grass fed than to have some kind of low fat chemical thing thatÂ’s supposed to resemble butter and itÂ’s not good for you.
So that’s the quick tip for the day – avoid low fat labels, eat natural.
