Now girls, I know we’ve always tell ourselves negative things when we look in the mirror. But I think a lot of us don’t remember and I’m here to remind you that whatever your image is going to be starts with what’s in your mind.
You have a lot of control over your thoughts and you may not have considered that before.
You may just think, well, I think what I think and when it comes up and I have to deal to with it.
And then the next thing I think and I deal with that. But really deciding what thoughts you’re going to hold and embrace and what thoughts you’re going to back away like a gnat or a fly, that’s something you’re in-charge of completely.
So I’m going to give you an example of things that I’ve experienced myself and I had to learn this the hard way.
This was not something that came naturally.
It didn’t just land on my brain and suddenly I know what to do.
I had to learn it.
And I got a lot of help from my husband who is really smart about that.
But really, we start with what we say to ourselves when we look in the mirror and we think a thought. “Oh, my butt is too bigâ€, “Oh, my legs are fatâ€, “Oh, I wish I didn’t have celluliteâ€, “Ugh, that’s so ugly.â€
Those are thoughts. They may be words that you’re hearing in your ear but they’re actually thoughts coming from your mind.
And when you change those thoughts, when you change that thought that’s really, actually something negative into something positive, you will immediately feel different and you feel better.
Here’s a sample…
I look in the mirror and I see cellulite on my legs and I go, “Ugh!†And I start to feel this urge to say, “Oh, I don’t like this bums and that looks really ugly.â€
And I say:
“You know what, these legs have carried me around without failing for 67 years. What fabulous legs I have. These are amazing legs. I love my legs.â€
And all of a sudden, I’m looking back in the mirror and seeing something different. The shape of my legs hasn’t changed but my appreciation of them has.
And that’s part of the Natural Health Philosophy.
You have to start appreciating what you have and not disrespecting and dwelling on what you don’t have.
When you start doing that not just with your legs but with your whole self, it will transform you from the inside out because all of a sudden you are starting to build strong thoughts.
And strong thoughts are what make the rest of you strong.
When you practice this every day even if you just do it for a couple of minutes, you will start to feel your vibrancy, your inner strength.
You’re going to feel more alive.
You’re certainly going to feel beautiful, radiant and special because you are appreciating the person you are. That’s the most important part of this – appreciating the person you are.
So instead of looking at yourself in the mirror and criticizing what you see there and telling yourself that it’s ugly or unattractive or too fat or saggy or it doesn’t look right or you wish it were different.
You’re going to feel instead by replacing those thoughts that were negative with positive thoughts, with things that are good about yourself and your body, you’re going to feel vibrant, glowing with health, fully alive, radiant, feeling the inner beauty that’s really you.
