In this video profile, educators at C.W. Shipley explain how they adapted their instruction during a year of piloting a new reading curriculum.

Implementing new curricula is just one example of Shipley’s long-established commitment to helping students succeed. Kindergarten teacher Heather Williams (herself a Shipley graduate) shared that the school passes on a love of learning, and is persistent about meeting students’ needs. “[Teachers and students aren’t] going to give up if something gets hard,” she reflected. “We work on it together and we push through. All my teachers did that for me.”

Reflecting on the National Blue Ribbon Schools award, second grade teacher Allison Howard remarked that “it’s nice for the students to be recognized for the successes that they’ve had throughout the years. And it gives the teachers validation that we are doing a good job, and it’s nice that the parents are able to recognize that the staff is working hard. We’re proud of ourselves, we’re proud of our students. And we hope we can do it again.”
