Platoon (1986)

September 15, 2020

Orion Pictures released Platoon on December 19, 1986. Oliver Stone directed the film starring Charlie Sheen, Tom Berenger, and Willem Dafoe.
‘Platoon’ Plot Summary
Chris Taylor is a young, naive American who gives up college to volunteer for combat in Vietnam. Upon arrival, he learns his presence is nonessential, and the other soldiers consider him insignificant; mostly due to the fact he has neither fought as long as the rest of them nor felt the horrors of war. With Chris are two non-commissioned officers consisting of an ill-tempered Staff Sergeant named Robert Barnes and a more pleasant Sergeant named Elias Grodin. When an illegal killing occurs during a village raid, a wedge forms between the two NCOs and a number of men in the platoon. As the war continues, Chris struggles for survival. He soon realizes he is fighting two battles; the conflict with the enemy, and the conflict between the men within his platoon.
