MC #001 - The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

September 08, 2014

My good friend, Aaron Tubbs, and I jump on the backs of the Eagles of Middle Earth and take a bird’s eye view of the ripe motifs and themes that shape the final chapter of the Lord of the Rings.  We talk good and evil in Middle Earth, the Ring and the weight of sin, redemption and mercy, sacrifice and friendship, love and bearing one another’s burdens, and how all of this ties into God’s big story, the mega-narrative, of the Gospel.

We’re not breaking any ground that has not been broken before by super smart professors and English teachers and countless sermon illustrations from pastors, but it was a fantastic conversation that connects the movie going experience of Return of the King with faith and theology.  Enjoy the show!
