Healthy Eating Plans

January 15, 2015

In our busy lives it can sometimes be difficult to make healthy food choices on a regular basis. One of the best ways to combat this is by making meal plans and prepping all your food ahead of time.

Listen this week as Amy Monarch and Teresa Leberknight of The Monarch and Dr T share their experiences and insights into the best ways to succeed on creating healthy meal plans.

Fail to prepare and prepare to fail could not be more true when it comes to your diet and keeping yourself healthy. This week you will learn what to include in a healthy eating plan, and what to avoid.

How to Succeed

It is well established that your brain has a finite capacity to make a certain amount of decisions in one day, so having a healthy eating plan in place leaves room for your head to think about more important things.

If you are prepared at the beginning of each week with exactly what you are going to eat at every meal there is also a much smaller risk of you falling off the waggon and eating the wrong things in a moment of haste and stress.

It will change the amount of food you are taking into your body, generally for the better. Not only that, but it will save you time, money and help you on your way to feeling great and improving your health.

Eating Consciously

Having certain methods in place such as food diaries and healthy eating plans will help you to avoid the unconscious grazing that can so often happen. If you prep yourself with a limited amount of snack bags then you can’t over consume any snacks, as even the healthy options can be detrimental when eaten in excess.

The process of keeping a food diary also helps you be accountable and fully aware of how much you are eating. One way to truly decide whether you’re about to eat is worth it is by having a physical food diary, rather than through your phone or tablet. This way if you can’t be bothered to find and fill in your diary, the food isn’t worth eating.

Listen this week as Amy and Teresa talk about things like:

What are healthy eating plans?
How do I implement my own plan?
What should my plan include?
What tools and resources should I use?
The best ways to get enough fibre

By bringing a healthy eating plan into your life you can really streamline your daily routine, and improve the relationship you have with food. Not only will it help you make better food choices, it will leave you feeling nourished, healthy and empowered.

Come and share your stories, trials and tribulations with The Monarch and Dr T community. Have you implemented a healthy eating plan into your routine? Has it helped, and do you have any advice for others?
