loving God first

Welcome to the Moms for Christ podcast. This is Seritta. I wanted to share with you all what has been on my heart lately, which is truly loving God. The Bible says in John chapter 14 verse 23, “‘Anyone who loves Me will obey My teaching. My Father will love them, and We will come to them and make Our home with them.’” By obeying God's teachings we invite God into our lives. We become comfortable with the Lord and cling to Him, making a home of true love in agreement with God's Word.

"When we love God and have true fear of the Lord, it moves us to obey." When I think of God living in us, I'm reminded of Proverbs 31. The whole passage describes the work of a wife, really the church of God. What's striking about the passage is that she does all things because she has the fear of the Lord. The Scripture says, “‘Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.’ Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.” These are works directed by God. When we love God and have true fear of the Lord, it moves us to obey. It moves us to passionately - and sometimes tirelessly - do what God is calling us to do.

"...true worship is meant to be selfless and loving the Lord is a selfless act." When my daughters were babies it was a 24/7 job to make sure they were alright and had what they needed. It took a lot of time, energy and we still had to be gentle through it all because we had two little lives we were caring for. Most parents learn what it is to be selfless with their first child, yet they would gladly have a second. It's love and passion for a new baby and children that drives parents to commit to this consuming job all over again. It reminds me of loving God though. I've discovered that I have to be driven to be committed to Christ, because true worship is meant to be selfless and loving the Lord is a selfless act.

"I want to pray for us moms to not only be diligent in studying God's Word, but to put it to action with God's compassion and purpose." I want to pray for us moms to not only be diligent in studying God's Word, but to put it to action with God's compassion and purpose. Lord, I want to thank You that You are the one true God, and that You are willing to draw us into Your love. Please open up our hearts to love You and seek You more. Please give us compassion for You, and all You have sacrificed for us to be near to you. Help us to fully receive the truth of the message in Your Word - and live it out. Please help Your children to also want nothing less than Your truth.
