With a first-round left hook (and ground-and-pound to stoppage), Chad Mendes scratched the name "Ricardo Lamas" off of the list of top UFC Featherweight Championship contenders. That seems to be the role Mendes has settled into for the foreseeable future: Little Brother's favorite term, "gatekeeper." No one will be a bigger Conor McGregor fan in July than Mendes, who could make a case for #1 Contender status against McGregor, but not the incumbent champion Jose Aldo.
