MMA Fight Focus Podcast: UFC 185 Recap

March 19, 2015

Two new champions. The last time two belts changed hands in one night was UFC 92, way back in 2008. This time, the defending champions were completely dominated before handing over their respective championship belts. Rafael dos Anjos convincingly won all five rounds, gaining a unanimous decision victory over Lightweight Champion Anthony Pettis. Besides putting on a memorable performance (and the most lopsided decision victory by a title challenger in UFC history), dos Anjos becomes the first Brazillian champion of the UFC's most competitive division. Carla Esparza was crowned the first UFC Women's Strawweight Champion in January, and defended the title for the first time at UFC 185 against Joanna Jedrzejczyk, and it was immediately evident that Jedrzejczyk should have worn the strap all along. She easily outclassed the champion standing, winning the first round by a wide margin before gaining a 2nd round TKO. Plus, former Welterweight Champion Johny Hendricks returned to form against Matt Brown, Alistair Overeem turned back the clock with a striking clinic and unanimous decision over Roy Nelson, and every fight on the undercard ended early in an action-packed card. Johnny Rock and the Little Brother break down all the action and the fallout, plus they preview UFC Fight Night 62: Maia vs. LaFlare from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
