MMA Fight Focus Podcast: Recap of Fight Night 60 & 61

February 26, 2015

The UFC stopped off in Denver, CO – home of the MMA Fight Focus Podcast – before making the trip to Porto Alegre, Brazil. Benson Henderson returned home to Colorado to make his Welterweight debut against Denver native Brandon Thatch… and a submission win by Henderson still equates to a win by both Colorado fighters! Plus, Neil Magny wins in front of his hometown fans in Broomfield, his 6th fight and 6th win in 54 weeks… isn’t it time for him to move up in the Welterweight Division? Does he want that? And Ray Borg’s win in the Flyweight Division is almost enough to earn him a title shot.

In Brazil, Frank Mir returns to the cage after nearly a year off… and, in 1:40, may have put the nail in the coffin of the suddenly chin-y “Bigfoot” Silva’s storied career. And the Mir left cross that may have retired Antonio Silva is just as likely to cast Mir back into Heavyweight Title contention. Meanwhile, Michael Johnson returns to The Octagon with a BIG decision win over native Brazillian and top Lightweight contender Edson Barboza. “The Menace” gets a huge rankings bump with the win, which begs the question: would he be considered among the elite in the UFC’s toughest division if it weren’t for the year-long layoff? Plus “Smilin'” Sam Alvey smiles for three-and-a-half minutes before finally throwing a punch… and one punch is all it takes to turn the lights out on Cezar Ferreira; Marion Renau takes a huge step in the Women’s Bantamweight Division with a first round submission of Jessica Andrade, and Matt Dwyer adds to his highlight reel with a Superman Punch knockout of William “Patalino” Macrio!

All that and more on this episode of the MMA Fight Focus Podcast!
