The Michelle MacPhearson Show: Social Media Marketing and Content Marketing Strategies to Grow Your

Are You Syndicating Identical Social Posts in Your Marketing?

July 15, 2014

Is it necessary to create and publish unique posts to all of the social networks, or can you syndicate identical posts across them? The answer might surprise you as it goes against what a lot of experts are teaching.

(Got your own questions for the show? Ask ‘em here!)

Hey folks, Michelle MacPhearson here, and today I wanted to answer one of the most common questions that we get asked at the support desk for you. And that is: do you or should you take one social post and publish it to all of the top 4 social networks? Or do I need to create unique posts for each social network?

So the networks that we publish too and that we recommend that you publish too are Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and LinkedIn. So do you need to be creating a unique individual post for each one of those?

No. It’s a waste of time. The truth of the matter is that the things that resonate with people on Facebook are going to resonate with them on Twitter too. And then, they’re going to resonate with them on Google+.

Human nature doesn’t change. If you’re creating curiosity, encouraging people to click through, if you are touching people’s hearts, if you are intriguing them, if you’re giving them valuable actionable information that they feel good about, and will help them move their own business or lives forward, it doesn’t matter what social network you’re posting that on, right? Because again, human nature doesn’t change whether they’re on Facebook or Twitter.

So I feel like some of the social media guru types tell you that you should do that [create unique posts for each social network], maybe to justify their own consulting prices but it’s really entirely unnecessary. I don’t do it. I don’t recommend that you do it. What works for people will work for people no matter where they’re at.

So write the one post and then syndicate it to all of the social networks that you are involved in. You’ll be in good shape, and you’ll also save a lot of time. So I hope that tip gets you closer to moving forward with your social media marketing and makes it a little bit easier for you.

If you’re not interested in doing that stuff yourself, you can go to SocialMediaDaily and my team will care of it for you. If you’ve got any follow up questions, head on over to MichelleMacPhearson.com and I will be happy to answer them for you.
