Education: Academic Achievement

June 20, 2015

In this episode--Episode 11--we begin our Education Topic Series with Academic Achievement.  We discuss the importance of Academic Achievement and how it can be accomplished.  We talk about how not to place too much emphasis on letter grades, and to place more emphasis on actually learning the material.

For our fluff topic, we discuss our favorite types of music.  Let us know some of your favorite songs and we can take a listen!

For our book review this week, I reviewed Women, Race, and Class by Angela Y. Davis (I used an incorrect title in the show-my apologies).  It's a wonderful book for a historical perspective.  I think that this is a good book to read with your children if they are a little older for awareness of the issues.  I do plan to read the book with Bean Bean, even though she is younger, because the book specifically addresses our identity.

For our Historical Spotlight, in celebration of Juneteenth, we highlighted the Black Soldiers of the Civil War.
