18: Jimalie – Health and Social Enterprise

June 15, 2016

Jaypee Abraham is the Managing Director of Jimalie Coconut Products. Jimalie is a family business that goes back to Jaypee’s grandparents planting the seeds for what still is the family plantation over 65 years ago. Jaypee co-owns Jimalie with his gorgeous wife, Victoria, his brothers and two cousins.
Jimalie began trading in January, 2014 and is now stoked in about 400 retail outlets across Australia.
The reason I love Jimalie is not just because they are in the business of coconuts and focus on health, but because of their values. They are continuing Jaypee’s father legacy by establishing the family land in the Philippines as a 100% charitable model farm, providing employment and education as well as teaching sustainable farming practices. Funds from the farm will be invested in first-class facilities and infrastructure as well as the development of educational programs at the local primary school.
So this episode has me and Jaypee talking about coconuts, healthy lifestyle and healthy eating, the impact healthy food has on his son who has Autism, about sustainable farming, consumerism and social enterprise. Seriously one of my most favourite combination of conversations.
What is Jaypee most grateful for? Family, healthy and freedom.
What 3 things need to change for the world to be a better place to live in? People’s attitudes, cultivating happy family lives, responsibilities.
What advice would you give yourself? To slow down.
