17: Take back your power

Sometimes in the throws of dealing with a situation, whether it be an interaction with someone, the demise of a relationship, becoming unwell or when things don’t go to plan, when can lose ourselves in it and consequently lose our power to it. At the time of the situation there are probably practical things that you need to deal with and the time this takes can vary, but then everything shifts into a grey area and we think that we are still needing to deal with things about the situation but really we are just reflecting and recreating the situation.
We always have lessons to learn from these situations and there is a process of dealing with it and I do believe we should honour the feelings that come up when we feel hurt, scared, sad and angry. But there comes a point where we need to see it as just an event in our past and the continued harm it doing isn’t actually anyone else responsibility but our own.
I believe there are 3 ways of moving past this situation. One- understand how it serves you to still act and think and feel as you are. Two- recognise that you are the person responsible for how you feel now, and Three- take back your power.
