#011: 6 Reasons Why Your Dealership Needs a Blog [Podcast]

October 09, 2014

Welcome to Episode 11 of the MarketPunch Podcast! In this episode of the show, I'll be helping you discover the reasons why you're going to want to launch you dealership's blog by 2015.

While this episode of the show stands on it's own in terms of its content, it's actually a prequel podcast to my Blog to the Future breakout session that I'll be hosting at the 2014 DrivingSales Executive Summit.

My presentation at #DSES accomplishes two things:

It focuses on HOW you can prepare to launch your company blog for 2015.
Shows real-life examples of our blogging efforts on FamilyDealBlog.com - the official blog of the LaFontaine Automotive Group.

Because I only have 30 minutes to cover a year's worth of blogging experience and insights, there isn't a lot of time to talk about the WHY a dealership needs a blog (more on that in just a minute).

This podcast will not only be a great resource for those who attend Blog to the Future, but it's also anyone who is looking for reasons to launch their company blog.

Why You Need  a Company Blog
Once you know the why, the how is easy.  - Jim Rohn , Great American Business Philosopher
If you've been in the automotive digital marketing space for a while, you've probably been to your fair share of conferences that focus on digital marketing.

Sometimes these are put together by a manufacturer specifically for their dealerships, sometimes they are put together by a vendor for their current or potential clients and sometimes they are hosted by a 3rd party.

I really enjoy going to these kind of events because they are usually great opportunities to network and make myself better and smarter.

However if you've been to enough of these you'll notice a growing trend. And that is many of the sessions, heck even entire day long conferences only focus on the WHY.

Now don't get me wrong, why you should invest time and resources into any digital marketing strategy is important. Obviously.

Hey, this entire podcast is dedicated to why a car dealership needs a company blog.

It just bothers me sometimes that you spend a day at a conference and they only talk about the WHY's, leaving it up to us to figure out the HOW.

So when I was preparing my DSES breakout session, Blog to the Future, I wanted to make sure I put together the type of presentation that delivered actionable content, aka the HOW.

But at the same time I wanted to make sure that those who attended my session had the opportunity to discover my WHY when it comes to blogging in the dealership.

And thus this episode of the MarketPunch Podcast was born.

So let's take a look at the 6 reasons why your dealership needs a blog.
1. To Create Connections with Your Customers
