Welcome back to the Mantastic Podcast

My name is Sean Kavanaugh I’ll be your host. I’m here with my co-hosts Allen Wilterdink and John Georgilis, and Special guest Ted Sundquist former General Manager of the Denver Brancos. Guys it’s good to be back, thanks for holding down the fort while a took a little 3 day weekend.

I was driving when you crank called me I wish I would have picked up. Cross talk with the vacationing Sean Kavanaugh.

So Lollapalooza kicks off in Grant Park on Chicago’s Lake front today have either of you been to the fest? You know I’d really like to go but I don’t think I could take sweaty unwashed for three days. I think the bands I’d like to see are

  • Kings of Leon
  • Foster the People (Kinda)
  • Broken Bells
  • Spoon (Hell Yeah)
  • Cage the Elephant (the band name always puts a smile on my face)
  • Young the Giant
  • Interpol (Can we please get a new album? You’re starting to act like Tool)

There are a few others but I would give them a pass because I hate super crowds and if you’ve driven in downtown Chicago during the fest you’d understand. I always marvel at how many people can take off of work for the Friday shows.

I think the music fest I would most like to go to is Riot Fest in Humbolt Park starting Sept 12 and ending on Sept 14th.

The only issue is it’s on the west side of Chicago in the summer. Not the best place to be, I would think security will be massive. Lots of shootings on the west side, I’m just saying.

Here are a few of my favorite bands playing in that one.

  • The Offspring
  • The National
  • The Flaming Lips
  • City and Colour (Dallas Greene)
  • Weezer
  • THE CURE
  • Cheap Trick

Who wants to talk Ebola? That’s some nasty stuff going on in  Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Guinea. Any thoughts about that jumping the pond and making it over here? They are bringing an American back to the US for treatment in the next couple days. The people going there to treat the sick are saint like. That isn’t a fun way to die.

Can ebola really take out a significant part of the population or will it burn itself out?

So did either of you hear about the fact that we were pretty close to a solar storm knocking us back to the stone age back in 2012? I guess the sun erupted with to huge busts of charged plasma. Had they hit the earths magnetic field it would have fried a significant portion of our power grids. That some scary stuff . Read the book “One Second After” by William Forstchen if you want to be completely freaked out.

I’ve started reading about how to harden your computers and electronics to EMP attacks or solar storms.

Get your tin foil ready!

One way to protect valuable equipment is to use a Faraday box or cage. You can actually build a room. You can look it up here
