Caledonia Season 3 with creator Amy Hoff: Episode 101

April 20, 2015

I met Amy Hoff during a particularly sordid night tweeting along with Super Geeked Up. She told me about her series, Caledonia, having a season 3 on the way so naturally I wanted to ask her more about it. Once I found out it was set in Scotland and featured many popular folklore monsters and creatures, it had me hooked.
When recently-divorced police officer Leah Bishop is offered a transfer and a promotion to the Glasgow branch of Interpol, she jumps at the chance to leave the past behind. She soon discovers her fellow officers are monsters from Scottish folklore, and they have recruited her to help solve a very human crime.
Amy Hoff is actually folklorist who studied the storytelling of the supernatural at the University of Glasgow. On top of being an academic on all things that go bump in the night, she's also an author having written Caledonia as a novel before it was decided to make it into a series.
But let her tell you all about that. We talk about her fascination with folklore and how that has motivated her to become a director of her series to continue the storytelling tradition for this new age.
