While looking around at the latest site giving their thoughts about Linux: Best desktop distros for newbies he was reminded about ElementaryOS. A very clean MacOS X look like desktop for Linux. When you go to the site http://elementaryos.org/ their download link they ask you to pay what you think it’s worth. Ubuntu does something similar. Linux Mint takes donations and are doing very well http://linuxmint.com/donors.php

So which way do you think is the better strategy to get a better desktop experience for Linux?
