It's the first episode of the Linked for Literacy podcast, and I think we picked the perfect person to start our interview series off with - Trudy Cultice, elementary teacher, literacy coach, dance instructor, and advocate for libraries. Trudy shares how she wanted to teach since she was just a girl playing school during summer vacation, and how she managed to combine her interests in teaching and dance to become an instructor. We talk about the teachers that influenced her the most and what she believes is missing from the classroom in modern schools, and then we head right into an update on the progress that her school, John McIntire Elementary, is making in implementing the Literacy Collaborative. I share some unsolicited trivia about spelling and the English language, and then Trudy gives new and prospective teachers her advice.
