The Life of Dad After Show

#200 - Dr. Lea Waters

July 11, 2017

Art Eddy and Ryan Hamilton bring on Lea Waters, Ph.D., to talk about her new book, THE STRENGTH SWITCH: How the New Science of Strength-Based Parenting Can Help Your Child and Your Teen to Flourish.
The Strength Switch is the game-changing book and online course based on the research of Professor Lea Waters, Ph.D.. The book and program, suitable for parents, teachers, school counsellors, mental health practitioners working with young people and families, combines Lea's research on strength-based parenting and positive education together with three decades of research from strength-based science and positive psychology. Lea shows the benefits of building on children's strengths rather correcting their weaknesses with many practical exercises, activities and tools. By showing you how to throw the "Strength Switch", you can help your children build resilience, optimism and achievement. This approach enhances self-esteem and energy for both children and teenagers. The Strength Switch will show you that a small shift can yield enormous results.
Waters is the president-elect of the International Positive Psychology Association and the Gerry Higgins Chair in Positive Psychology at the University of Melbourne, Australia.
