12 – We Go All Swashbuckler, Shop At A Public House and Get Stumped

February 25, 2020

This episode we sail the seven seas of IPAs with a pirate from the guild of the Brotherhood of the Black Flag. Next, we shop for local produce, meats, specialty food items and grab a pint all under one roof. How's that possible? Because it's a modern day public house. Finally, we get stumped by Alex Larrabee's deep rooted knowledge of sours and barrel-aged beers at Big Stump Brewing Company. That, and our usual craic on this episode of Life in 16 oz.

No love was lost between Brandon's Local Shred Red from Alvarado Street Brewery out of Monterey County, California, and Paul's Mermaid's Red from Coronado Brewery in Coronado, California, as they go head-to-head in this month's "BeerDome." (Life in 16 oz./Paul Wade)

Paul mentions on the show that he attended Russian River Brewing Company's Pliny the Younger 2020 release at their new Windsor location. He wasn't kidding when he said the line was long! (Life in 16 oz./Paul Wade)

Mark Chilcott at his local favorite True Symmetry Brewing Company in Suisun City, California. While there he can enjoy plenty of India Pale Ales and other hopped up brews like their Lop Sop Doy, a triple IPA with 11% ABV (alcohol by volume). (Life in 16 oz./Paul Wade)

Mark and Kathy Chilcott, both proud hop heads, enjoy brewing their own IPA beers. Throughout the year they get dressed in various costumes as part of a pirate-themed guild called the Brotherhood of the Black Flag. The guild participates in festivals and fairs around the state.
