The New Adam’s Re-Creation at the Empty Tomb

April 15, 2015

On Wednesday evening, April 8th, Pastor Zac Hicks preached a sermon from the Gospel of John (Chapter 20). In this message, we hear John continue his painting of the “re-creation” of the world in the person and work of Jesus. We find an encounter between Jesus, “the gardener,” and the “woman,” Mary. And later, we see the disciples hiding and afraid, just as Adam hid from the presence of God. In these resurrection scenes, Jesus, as the New Adam, speaks hope into fear, changing slaves into sons. As we witness all this, we find Jesus addressing our own enslaving fears by pointing to His hands and side—His finished work for us.
