Unstoppable | Part 4

February 11, 2015

Pastor Tullian shared his 4th message in the series “Unstoppable” on February 8th. In this series we have seen that the Book of Acts is all about the mercy of God flowing out into the world through messy people. In the first few chapters of Acts we see that Peter has been the main character. Because of Peter’s failures he is now “small enough” to play a big part in God’s plans to extend the message of grace to the ends of the world. Broken people make the best messengers of grace because they are desperately aware of their need for it.

Tullian asks the question, “Have you ever felt like you have sinned so bad that God could never use you?” He is certain this is how Peter felt. When we think this way we assume that God can only use clean people with a clean record. Before God we are all equally weak and broken people, and those that acknowledge it are the ones that God uses in the mightiest way.

God is in the business of claiming and using doubters and deniers, adulterers and murderers, and failures of every kind. God only uses dirty people because dirty people are all that he has to choose from. There is nothing in your life that will prevent God from using you. The only thing that will prevent God from using you is for you to think you are clean. Those who acknowledge that they are ill deserving, weak, and frail, are mighty tools in God’s hand and Peter is a great example of that. After denying Christ, every time he opens his mouth to preach, thousands of people believe in Jesus.
