Unstoppable | Part 1

January 25, 2015

Pastor Tullian kicked off his sermon series through the Book of Acts on January 18, 2015. He titled this series “Unstoppable” because we will see that nothing can get in the way of God’s global expansion of His message of grace. The purpose of this series is: “tracing God’s flawless work through flawed people.” We will encounter two things in this series, a flawless God and flawed people. The Book of Acts is the 2nd part of a 2-part history written by Luke, which started with the Gospel of Luke. Since these books were circulated together, we will be considering them together at certain points along the way.

In his Gospel, Luke recounts where Jesus is geographically (from Galilee to Jerusalem to the cross) and in Acts he recounts where the gospel goes (from the ascension to Jerusalem to the whole world). It is the story of the unstoppable widening of the gospel carried out flawlessly by God through flawed and faulty people like you and me. The movement of the gospel never ended and it is still ongoing and unstoppable today. We will learn that God’s work is not dependent on our work and that nothing is able to stop God’s work of global grace expansion—not even us.
