Deepfake, meaning “deep learning” and fake, refers to video, audio and other digital media manipulated by artificial intelligence to replicate a person’s likeness or voice in a simulated reality. Forensic experts rely on their eyes and ears to discover manipulated photographic and recorded evidence. Now, as manipulation technology has improved and become more accessible, experts are turning to sophisticated detection techniques. Are you, much less attorneys, able to spot a “deepfake?”
