Swatting incidents are happening more frequently. Swatting is just the latest trend in dangerous pranks to emerge lately. What is swatting?

Swatting is the act of alerting emergency services to an ongoing critical situation that really isn't happening. Swatting not only puts an unnecessary cost on taxpayers but swatting can also have fatal consequences.

How can authorities discourage these dangerous pranks and what's compelling people to make these hoax phone calls?

Also in the news... Marijuana is legal in Oregon starting in July. In the city of Pendleton, an ordinance can fine smokers up to $500 if odor complaints are received. Peter Walters wrote a letter to the East Oregonian requesting that a more offensive odor be banned... farts.

More off field violence news comes from the NFL. The Chicago Bears release DT Ray McDonald after he was arrested on misdemeanor domestic violence and child endangerment charges. Atlanta Falcons linebacker, Prince Shembo, is being charged with felony animal cruelty after killing his ex-girlfriend's dog.
