Shirley’s 20-Year Journey from Trauma to Wellness

 

A life of inexplicable fatigue, visits to doctor after doctor, who told her she was ‘fine’ even in the face of debilitating pain: that’s what this week’s guest, Shirley Plant, endured for two decades.

 

Triggered, she believes, by the stress of losing two close friends in one year during high school, Shirley’s health and energy levels deteriorated until she became bedridden and on disability in her twenties.

 

Finally diagnosed with a combination of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, and multiple food allergies, Shirley decided to take control of her circumstances and began to study nutrition, seeking organic, natural answers to her health problems.

Adapting favorite comfort foods to her new food allergy guidelines brought Shirley into the kitchen, where she developed a range of delicious, satisfying recipes that she began sharing with family and friends, ultimately publishing a recipe book, “Finally, Food I Can Eat!”

 

 

Shirley has gone on to found the free “Eat Real Food Health Summit,” now in its second year, bringing together over 30 experts in nutrition and medicine, many of whom have healed themselves, to discuss healing through food and the mind-body connection to wellness.

 

 

Incredibly knowledgeable, and approaching healing from a whole-body, nutritional perspective, Shirley shares with Shane some valuable information, including:
