A Mother's Day Gift - Standing for Peace 2015

April 23, 2015

Celebrating Mother's Day can be a gift for all. The history of Mother's Day as celebrated in the U.S. dates back to activist and writer, Julia Ward Howe, who suggested in 1870 that the annual celebration be dedicated to peace. Today, The Standing Women Initiative - www.standingwomen.net - invites people of all ages around the world to gather silently for peace on Mother's Day at 1PM for five minutes local time - with a special focus on a better world for our children and future generations.

In this unique program, Brenda, Carol, and Joan read the powerful, lyrical story, "The Great Silent Grandmother Gathering", a book that has created exciting global attention. The conversation will also share the impact "foremothers", mentors, and mothers have for 21st Century change. On this stirring program, you'll hear about:

* Julia Ward Howe's 1870 original Mother's Day proclamation calling for peace
* Jean Bolen's "Urgent Message from Mother - Gather the Women, Save the World"
* ways to actively participate and "Stand for Peace" on Mother's Day
