Body Wisdom for Health

December 16, 2014

Recently I recorded a conversation I had with, Cathy Cochrane, a holistic nutrition practitioner, based in Montreal (Canada). She was talking to me about how she accesses her body wisdom for her own health and how she guides her clients to listen to their body, rather than put them on a diet. You can listen to this podcast in iTunes.

Cathy, says,

andnbsp;
“I believe that if you put a woman on a diet, you may improve her health for now, but if you teach a woman to listen to her body, you will improve her health for Life.

andnbsp;
I was so excited to hear her say this, as that is aligned with my philosophy, empowering women to create independence for themselves, rather then being dependent on some-one for their answers. Following a diet without listening to your body may have adverse consequences. The diet that may be good for some people, may not be good for everyone. If we learn to listen to our body, we can sense when you feel nourished and healthy and when you feel depleted or lacking in energy based on food choices as distinct from emotional issues.

andnbsp;
Cathy went on to say,

“Women visit my holistic health practice with anything from digestive upset andamp; the stress of weight, to monthly pain to anxiety. No matter the issue at hand, ultimately I guide women to lay a foundation of self-care (aka self-love).
andnbsp;

I have also found that by paying attention to our body we are triggered into noticing whether we are caring for ourselves. An attention to our bodies brings us back to ourselves, instead of being out there all the time, paying attention to every one elses needs. Cathy, is a woman close to my heart, as she also integrates tools for a whole of life health approach.
“As much as I provide my clients with practical tools for improving their health with whole food andamp; lifestyle adjustments, my passion is delving into the inner workings of a woman’s life and building her own skill set for maintaining health and well-being. Something that we women need reminding about regularly – at least I do!â€
