Christopher Brisley on "Take a Challenge"

June 16, 2014

Christopher Brisley understands a challenge.  From his time in the Navy, competing in sports and starting businesses, it was about constant progress, doing more and doing better.  Then, whilst out on his bike, training for an event, he was hit head on by a car.  This began the start of a new challenge, and the start of a new way of looking at things.

Christopher was in pain.  A lot of pain.  2 years of pain.

"How did I deal with the pain?  I worked more"

Christopher had tried a variety of things in his past, constantly searching and reviewing what was working and what wasn't.  Trying to find his thing.  His place in the world.  Some of the things were "successful" and others meant that he lost everything and had to start again.  After his accident, he came to a realisation.

"I decided to put something back"

Christopher immersed himself in understanding his body and got back on his feet, literally.  Head over to TakeaChallenge.org and you will see the incredible list of challenges and events that Christopher has completed.  From Marathons, Ultra runs, Ironman, and all other variety of distances as well as mountain climbs and so much more.

Christopher started his "little" blog and website as a way of sharing his story.  However, like the story itself, there is so much more to it than that.  It has become a community, a place that shares the stories of people doing amazing things.

Throughout my conversation with Christopher, you can't help but believe that the growth, the progress and the success that he was previously searching for was there all along.  He just needed to stop and allow it to catch up with him.

"I was always trying to be somewhere else"

"I put the past behind me"

Christopher Brisley shares his incredible "story that he is creating",  as well as the other remarkable people who are out there living a life.  Whilst staying  present, Christopher asks himself this beautiful question that helps to introduce new challenges -

"If I wanted to have the most beautiful adventure, what would I do?"

How would you answer that?

If you want to connect with Christopher Brisley, then head over to TakeAChallenge.org and see how others have answered it.  You can also follow him on Twitter @CBrisley and you can let him know all about the challenges that you are about to take.

Of course if you know anyone else who would enjoy and benefit from listening to this episode or connecting with Christopher then take a moment to share it, tweet it, email or sit down and listen to it with them.  I was connected to Christopher by my friend and previous guest Thom Hunt of 7th Rise and you can see why.  They certainly share that sense of perspective and sense of adventure.
