"Performance" with Michael Port

June 03, 2014

Michael Port, the best selling author of "Book Yourself Solid", was introduced to me by previous guest John Jantsch.  In this conversation Michael shares the pivotal moment when he reflected on his character and left acting to move into business.  With no experience in this field Michael puts his success down to the following fact

"I came with a blank piece of paper and a beginners mind"

Michael shares the impact of writing a best selling book and how things "blew up" for him.  Now Michael is planning to go full circle, based on the fact he plans to return to his acting background and teach performance.  Michael has a desire to show how performance is relevant to all parts of your life.

"Focus on just what is in service of the story"

Michael shares his story during this conversation, including his previous health and weight issues and his relationship to food.  Like many of us, Michael admits that he was concerned what other might think.  However, when he shared this with others he realised that he could actually play a bigger game.  To me, this is the true meaning of "authenticity".

"The way that we connect with others is through life experiences"

This just scratches the surface of our conversation, as we talk of the pivotal moment in which Michael realised he could buy a boat (and did).  We also explore the power of language and how it can impact those around us (creating supporters or detractors).

Take a listen and let me know what you connected with.
