Media Wars: Fighting For Your Perception

December 08, 2016

This “fake news” scare tactic that mainstream media is pushing with every modicum of influence it retained following the extremely embarrassing yet revealing 2016 Selection, is all anchored on the very McCarthyist-style list that was quickly spread without verification and with zero due diligence by the entirety of mainstream media, yet touted as a verifiable list of “fake news.” This was done so because it reinforced the establishment talking point that, “alternative media is dangerous and not to be trusted.” So regardless of the list’s veracity, and the questionable legitimacy of the site from which the list originated, the establishment narrative always takes precedent over the truth … unless you are part of the Alternative Media of course.
Such a careless and irresponsible lack of research and verification(the very qualifying characteristic on which they arbitrarily deem a site to be “fake news” and Russian propaganda) on the part of the many mainstream outlets that published such a slanderous and defamatory list, needs to be acknowledged. Yet, many who still maintain the validity of mainstream media would claim that to be an off-base accusation to distract from the real problem, and that the list is an accurate and properly vetted compilation of fake news sites. However, they would be fundamentally wrong, just ask the Washington Post.
Quoted from Zero Hedge:

In the latest example why the “mainstream media” is facing a historic crisis of confidence among its readership, facing unprecedented blowback following Craig Timberg November 24 Washington Post story “Russian propaganda effort helped spread ‘fake news’ during election, experts say,” on Wednesday a lengthy editor’s note appeared on top of the original article in which the editor not only distances the WaPo from the “experts” quoted in the original article whose “work” served as the basis for the entire article (and which became the most read WaPo story the day it was published) but also admits the Post could not “vouch for the validity of PropOrNot’s finding regarding any individual media outlet,” in effect admitting the entire story may have been, drumroll “fake news” and conceding the Bezos-owned publication may have engaged in defamation by smearing numerous websites with patently false and unsubstantiated allegations.
It was the closest The Washington Post would come to formally retracting the story, which has now been thoroughly discredited not only by outside commentators, but by its own editor.

This admission by WaPo needs to be seriously reflected on by all those screaming Fake News at anything they disagree with, as it dismantles the entire fake news/Russian propaganda story line that was always intended to destroy any opposition(such as the alt media) and stifle any dissenting minds that mig...
