I know this much: it’s okay to believe whatever you believe… and it doesn’t do anyone any good to find fault in what others believe.
This episode is a car-cast recorded on Interstates 405 and 5 between Long Beach and Oceanside, California. It’s a noisy recording, which is not the norm for this show, but I was driving and the subject was on my mind, so… here we are!
The episode was inspired by the reaction of a Facebook friend to a video from Mayim Bialik that described how the actress personally reconciles the science part of her brain with her Judaism.
My friend offered the opinion that Bialik’s position was “a rubbish argument for being religious.” A spirited and, happily, civil discussion ensued.
It got me thinking about belief (including an unintended and unaware jaunt into Kierkegaard and Fideism territory), and thought, and action, and responsibility, and all kinds of related things.
I want to point out that my conclusions aren’t intended to target my friend, although (as I point out in the episode) I do own up to speaking from a position of varied and long experience. In other words, like so much in our lives, I base my conclusions and my opinions on my own life.
I’d love to know what you think about it all. Please leave a comment! And hey! You should subscribe to the podcast, too:  Copy this link into your audio podcast client, use the links in the sidebar, or subscribe to my YouTube channel to get the video edition (and other videos) as soon as it posts!
