Sproutling Monitors Babies for Parents

December 17, 2015

This week on Health Tech Weekly we have a novel approach to a baby monitor that the baby wears on their ankle to monitor their health and activity levels for parents via a Bluetooth connection and a wireless smartphone app. Sproutling is a new baby monitor that gives worried and tired parents some level of peace of mind.
Monitoring Baby From A Distance
The Sproutling ankle monitor looks at the baby’s temperature and heart rate so you can monitor some basic vital signs first of all. Then it can also tell the sleep position of the baby so if the baby moves to a dangerous face-down sleep position, the mobile app would alert parents. Parents can set parameters for the baby and the environment like room temperature and skin temperature levels, increased or decreased heart rate, and more.

The Sproutling can also be set up to monitor multiple infants for parents of twins and triplets or for daycare providers monitoring infants. This is another in the list of innovative tools to assist parents with monitoring their baby’s that coupled with the video monitors that exist and other electronic gadgets can help some parents relax a little bit once the baby is down to sleep and out of their sight.

I’ve covered this and other baby monitoring tools in the past and will be covering a whole conference hall full of baby gadgets at CES next month in Las Vegas so stay tuned here to the Health Tech Weekly podcast for more to come real soon. Also, check out all our CES coverage starting the 6th of January 2016 at TPN.tv for the best up to date live coverage from the event. You can also follow my tweets from the exhibit halls at the twitter handle Podmedic. I look forward to your retweets and replies.
