Topic: The balance of the head, neck, back and pelvis are all related and are primary to the overall balance and coordination of the body, especially during motion. Deb talks about the details of human head and neck use and I talk about how the same ideas have to be organized for our horses. The use or coordination of the skull and cervical portion of the spine is a delicate area for both horse and rider and can easily lock up, making balance through the lower spine and pelvis much more difficult to find. The entire axial skeleton, that includes the skull, neck, back and pelvis, are where we and our horses begin finding ideal balance and correct mechanical use of our bodies.
