Homeschooling Gifted & Emotionally Intense Children
Many parents question if their child is gifted and whether or not they should even homeschool their children.  Gifted children do come with their own challenges. Usually gifted children are emotionally intense. We often don't know how to keep them motivated or even if we can meet their needs.  Well today we are speaking with Colleen Kessler of RaisingLifelongLearners.com.  Colleen is a former classroom teacher.  She is an authority on gifted children and will be talking with us today. She will explain how and when we will know if our child is gifted and why homeschooling is the ideal education for our children.

I have truly become an advocate for homeschooling gifted children because their needs are so specific.

A former teacher of gifted students, Colleen prayed for nice, average kids and thought she'd be in the classroom forever. As God has a sense of humor, she now stays home to homeschool her four highly gifted kids ages 11 and under. Between the Legos, experiments, craft projects, an general messes, she attempts to stay one step ahead of the kids while making sure their passions and curiosity are fueled and respected. She fails often, but always enjoys the journey.Colleen earned a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education from Cleveland State University and her Master's in Gifted Education from Kent State University. Her curiosity is continually fed as she embraces a lifestyle of lifelong learning alongside her kids. She writes books for teachers, parents, and kids, and can be found blogging about home, school, and faith-filled mothering {and the ups and downs of living with bright kids} at www.RaisingLifelongLearners.com
