Matt. 5:4

Jesus teaches that those who mourn will be blessed and comforted.

What does it mean to mourn? Isn't it backwards to think that sad people will be happy? What should Christians be mourning over?

We can go all the way back to the time of Job to see how people are often confused about how God treats His people, and what (if any) purpose suffering and sadness have. Jesus clears it up in this simple statement.
