Episode Four Notes
All the way from Germany, Discovering the Cosmic Octave, Describing his 12 Hour Concert!  In this fascinating interview, Barnim boggles my mind as he lays out the principles of the Cosmic Octave.  The Cosmic Octave is a sequence based on the so-called formula of the ‘octavation process’, developed in 1978 by Swiss mathematician and music theorist, Hans Cousto.

Barnim shares that he was first introduced to the world of sound healing and music for healing, through an experience he had 20 years ago, with tuning forks.  He then embarked on his current life path, of further exploring with the use of tuning forks and experimenting on how he could get that pure tone and sound to last for longer amounts of time, without dissipating on the physical body.

Lucky for us, Barnim is kind of a techno geek and a scientific genius, to boot!  So he has come up with a way to develop amazing tones and what he refers to as pure tones, which he describes quite well in this interview.

You may be as fascinated as I was, to learn that some sounds are common and sacred to many cultures, that are based on a seed syllable, such as the Om, of Tibetan monks, the Amen of Catholic churches, and the sound is known in Indian music as Sadja, the father of all tones.

n this call, you will learn about how the Earth year year is broken down to a very high number of seconds, which correlate to tones in the way of frequencies, or vibrations per second.  In a mathematical way, Barnim changes seconds into halves, and arrives at a frequency too low to be audible, so we don’t hear it, as it is out of the range we can hear in 20 – 20,000 hertz.

So he doubles the time (same way as the eight tones of an octave which are always a doubling of the frequency), and with the frequency of the Earth year, he gets a tone we can hear, after doubling it 32 times, and arrives at C Flat. The most interesting thing is that this tone C Flat, is not a new frequency, it is astonishingly old, and known in various cultures, for many hundreds of thousands of years and it can be found in people when they are meditating.

Not only that, it is also the frequency and rhythm of our cell communication, of our body cells. The tone is exactly the rhythm of our body cell communication, so it is very relaxing.  He explains that our nervous system tries to swing with this frequency, it is the same frequency

Barnim explains about diatonic tuning and pure tuning and overtones, and it is so interesting and deep that I will not even try to explain it here, I’ll let you listen to the interview and get it direct from the source! The end result is that Barnim tunes every note in his music to “pure” and that is what makes the effects of his music so healing and wonderful feeling.

Barnim performs at clubs in Berlin, and he performs full 12 hour concerts with a journey through the planets of the solar system.

Barnim performs at a very special place in Austrian, Berchtesgaden, and plays the pure tones from the Cosmic Octave and gives one hour to playing the pure tones from each of the planets.  The concert lasts ten hours!
