S2-Ep1: Switching It Up! [Nintendo’s Press Event]

January 13, 2017

Last night was Nintendo’s Press Conference, where they released a lot more information about their new system, The Nintendo Switch. They announced the system price, the price of accessories, and some launch titles. All in all, it was a typical ‘weird-ass Nintendo Press Conference’ complete with bizarre/awkward promotion events (see Suda 51’s announcement), a lot of weird/awkward skits (see Splatoon 2, or Legend of Zelda announcement), and stilted talking points on Switch features (see HD Rumble, which I, Kenny,  thought was a game).

Let’s start off by talking about pricing…It looks like the Switch itself is going to start at $299.99 USD, and for that you get the Switch System, two Joy-Cons, a dock, a HDMI cable, and a power cable. It doesn’t look like the Switch is going have any “pack-in” games, which is kind of unfortunate for that price point. The other unfortunate thing is the price of the accessories. An additional dock for your Switch will set you back $90 USD and additional Joy-Cons will cost $49 for a single Joy-Con or buy a two Joy-Con bundle for $79. It seems like, in typical Nintendo Fashion, the looming price point for their system isn’t in the initial purchase, but may end up costing you a lot more in long run, should you opt in for additional peripherals.
Alright, now to the main Event, the launch day titles that are currently known for the Nintendo Switch, in no particular order:

Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
1-2-Switch
Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Skylanders Imaginators
Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Just Dance 2017
…Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Nintendo did announce quite a few other titles, some may come out during the launch window, and others will come out later in the year, possibly as late as next year.
Here a few of the titles we’re excited about:

Arms
Mario Odyssey
Xenoblade 2
Splatoon 2
Has Been Heroes (No More Heroes 3)
Project Octopath Traveller
New Shin Megami Tensei game (Jon is hoping for Nocturne 2)
Dragon Quest 10
Dragon Quest 11
Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim
FIFA

There were a few other minor announcements, but for the most part that was all the high points
